Advances in Spare Parts Classification and Forecasting for Inventory Control: A Literature Review

Ensuring availability of spare parts is essential for original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) to support after-sales maintenance and repair services their products. Previous studies have pointed out shortcomings literature in supporting practitioners with guidelines on development effective management systems. This paper assesses the extent which recent research advances address these shortcomings, through a review management. We find that most gaps identified by previous continue persist. Moreover, we majority takes perspective owners assets or equipment, fewer case take suppliers parts, i.e., OEMs. Majority are from aviation, domestic appliance, automotive industries.
